Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Wilson County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so that it can be answered. It remains within the site team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically record basic technical information about the visit:
- The date and time of each page request
- The page viewed and the length of the visit

- The referring website, when one is reported

- The device’s assigned IP address

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Wilson County Criminal History does not create, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official custodians, including the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed on this site. Information submitted through a box is subject to that provider’s privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Those choices are beyond our control, so visitors should read the applicable partner policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Wilson County Sheriff, North Carolina court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination’s privacy policy controls that visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may track activity across multiple websites to select ads. Any such tracking operates through the provider’s systems rather than ours.

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
The North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, including the investigative-record rule in G.S. 132-1.4, governs access to records held by North Carolina public agencies. It does not create consumer privacy rights against this privately operated site. Regardless of whether another law applies where a visitor lives, a visitor may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information we hold about that visitor
- Correct personal information shown to be inaccurate
- Delete personal information where the request can lawfully be honored
- Stop certain forms of processing when an available choice permits it
